SENECY Results

Hi families, attached are the scoring and full meet results. They have also been uploaded to Swim Topia. Congratulations to ALL swimmers as this win took an entire team effort. Our 9&10's kicked off the meet with great excitement and enthusiasm to race against our biggest competitor. Based on the psych sheet, we were projected to be down by 60 points at the end of this session, but they swam so well we ended up 10 points ahead!

We had some great swims with the 11 & 12 session and a record-breaking afternoon. Penny Lin broke her own 50 back team record and also broke the SENECY league championship record (1 of only 2 records set this weekend). The 8 & Under's swam strong and had some new swimmers qualify for New England. The 13 & 14 competed next and also had some record setting swims. Charlotte Erickson broke the 200 free team record and broke the 500 free team record which stood since 1984!

Going into the final session, we were down by 66 points. This is the first time in 10 years we were in this position. Going up against a strong KCY team, this was a tall hill to climb. The 15 & over age group rose to the challenge and swam out of their minds. Not only did they make those points up, but they put us ahead for good by over 100 points. Thanks to the help of swims like the girls 100 fly where they took first and second place, and the medley relay that took first and fourth. Also, the boys swam some personal best and moved into a scoring position. Aydin Duru qualified for YMCA Nationals in 50 free and 100 free. He'll join Finn Pansa, Roc Falaguerra, and Leo Katz whose 200 Free Relay also made the YNAT's cut.

We are so proud of what this team accomplished to win our 11th championship in a row. Congratulations once again!

3 Records Broken at Winter Champs

We had 3 swimmers break 6 team records. Addy Lin broke her own record in the 200 free by 17 seconds and she broke the 100 breast stroke record by 11.42 seconds. Penny did not want to be outdone by her sister, so she also broke 2 records. Penny broke the 200 back record by over 3 seconds and she broke the 200 breast record which has been standing since 1984! Our third swimmer to break a record this weekend was Leo Zhang who broke the 200 free by over 1 second and the 200 IM by 3 seconds. Congratulations to these swimmers and the rest of the team who swam last weekend.
